MULTILAYER PIPE ( PERT -AL- PERT ) PIPEX CONTAIN FIVE (5 ) DIFFERENT LAYERS :
• 1º inner layer : PE- RT pipe. Temperature resistant polyethylene, as defined by the standard UNE 53960EX .
• 2º adhesive layer , particularly designed for bonding plastic to metal , with melting point over 120 ° C .
• 3º Aluminum core layer butt welded . Aluminum alloy tubes especially designed for water under pressure . “Butt welding” advantages :
– A perfect symmetry of the tube, and thus a better bond with the accessory.
– A greater strength of the pipe , uniform over the entire circumference , this ensures the pipe has a greater resistance to pressure and stress generated whith the bending process of the pipes .
– Increased resistance of the weld spot . In multilayer butt welded pipes, the welding line of the aluminum layer is precisely the strongest point of the foil .
• 4º adhesive layer , particularly designed for bonding plastic to metal , with a melting point over 120 ° C .
• 5º outer layer : PE- RT pipe. Temperature resistant polyethylene, as defined by the standard UNE 53960EX .

Combination of Plastic Materials (PE- RT) and metal ( aluminum) gives the tubes MULTICAPA PIPEX Excellent Properties , acquiring the Advantages of Plastic and metal pipes , and eliminating the disadvantages of both types of pipes . Among these features highlight :
• Reliability. Product certified by AENOR.
• Ease of Installation . No welding or machining is required.
• Security. Multilayer pipe PIPEX aluminum layer is produced under the “butt welded” system , providing greater resistance to the pressure and stress that generates when pipes are curved.
• Flexibility. Multilayer pipes PIPEX Present good flexibility and stability properties allowing pipes to bend up to a radius of curvature of 2.5 to 5 times the outside diameter of the tube , keeping the adjusted shape after it’s handling . They can be bent and curved cold with great simplicity and without any special tools .
• Resistant to high temperatures. PIPEX Multilayer Pipes can be used with temperatures up to 95 ° C and 110 ° C for some hours.
• Resistant to high pressures. The estimated multilayer pipe PIPEX work-life under temperatures between 0-95ºC and pressures up to 10 bar is 50 years. At 20ºC the pipe withstands pressures up to 25 bar.
• Resistant to oxygen diffusion. The aluminum layer is a barrier to gas molecules , eliminating the risk of corrosion which generates oxygen diffusion .
• Resistant to corrosion and chemicals . The plastic tubes are more resistant than metal to chemicals commonly used ( as reflected in the UNE 53389 : 2001 IN) . These pipes resist chemical damage produced by solvents, oils, and water without corrosion occurring , being suitable for transporting corrosive fluids .
• Minimum losses.The roughness of the walls of the tubes MULTICAPA PIPEX is much lower than metal pipes. This reduces the energy requirements for pumping water and carries higher flow rate to the inside of the tubes with equal diameter .
• No fouling. The plastic inner layer is very resistant to limescale and dirt caused by galvanic corrosion substances.
• Resistant to abrasion. MULTICAPA PIPEX pipes are erosion and wear-resistant, even in the curved parts where a greater speed of water tends to generate a bigger deterioration.
• Resistant to microbial growth . The absence of corrosion stops the microbial growth.
• Lightweight. Weighs 7 times less than copper and 13 times less than iron , for equivalent diameters .
• Optimal sanitary conditions . MULTICAPA PIPEX is suitable for use in any installation of hot water and heating. Made with non-toxic materials and it’s accepted for use in drinking water.
• Insulation – Low temperature loss . PIPEX multilayer pipes have a very low thermal conductivity of only 0.43 w / mk , which significantly reduces temperature loss by diffusion.
• Frost resistant.Prevents condensation and reduces the possibility of water freezing .
• Electrical insulator. Eliminates any type of galvanized corrosion .
• It does not transmit noise . Its flexibility greatly reduces the transmission of acoustic velocities even at a higher water flow than metal pipes have.
• Suitable for seismic zones . Because of their elasticity and flexibility they can absorb greater amount of stress than metallic pipes .
• Low Expansion . The expansion generated by temperature change is minimum , compared to the one generated in metal pipes.
• Shock resistant. The combination of a rigid but flexible pipe allows it to easily absorb hits and impacts .

QUALITY CONTROL
All production of multilayer pipes PIPEX are subjected to continuous testing and quality controls which ensure that the product that is launched to the market is correct for installation purposes. PIPEX SYSTEMS SA has a laboratory equipped with the most modern quality control tools that perform all the required tests to the pipe:
- Dimensions: diameter , inner diameter , wall thickness , rounding of the pipes . Double control both during the production line and afterwards on the already manufactured product . UNE -EN 3126.
- Appearance: Control of the various layers of the product checking there are no holes , wrinkles , cracks or any other defect that prevents normal functioning.
- Heat Behavior :( Longitudinal Shrinkage ) . According to UNE 53960EX . Ensures the proper use of the pipe after undergoing thermal expansion without having the adhesion between layers suffer.
- Resistance to internal hydraulic pressure :The test is performed using the method described in standards UNE-EN ISO 1167. The conditions of time , temperature and pressure are those described in the UNE 53960EX standard ( see “Technical Data”)
- Adherence and cracking expansion : according to UNE 53960EX . Ensures the correct use of the product after undergoing mechanical expansion equal or greater than 10% of the initial diameter , without lack of adhesion between layers or cracks occuring in the aluminum layer .
- Tensile Adhesion: ( Peel testing ) . According UNE ISO 17454. 53960EX minimal and medium adhesion strength are determined to separate the layers of PE- RT interior and aluminum in a portion equivalent to 270 pipe.
- Thermal Stability : ( Internal pressure ) . According to UNE 53960EX . Pressure test at 110 ° C for 1 year verifies the heat aging resistance of the tube .
- Induction time to oxidation : The test is performed according to the method of the UNE -EN ISO 1133 on the material of the inner layer of PE- RT , both in the starting raw material and the finished product.
- Flow Index : The test is performed according to the method of the UNE -EN ISO 1133 on the material of the inner layer of PE- RT , both in the starting raw material and the finished product.
- Thermal cycling : ( Adhesion and evaluation of the aluminum layer after temperature cycling ) . A pipe sample is subjected to 5000 cycles of 15 minutes to water pressure of 10 bar and temperature of 20 and alternatively 93 ° C. Once the test is finished, drawn adhesion and lack of corrosion in the aluminum layer are determined.
WARRANTY
Multilayer pipes PIPEX are guaranteed for 10 years by a civil liability insurance that covers any damage that may arise from the building due to a failure caused by a manufacturing defect in the product, for up to 600,000 euros.
CONDITIONS OF THE WARRANTY
· The warranty is provided on the condition that between the completion of the installation and the accident, the amount of time is under 10 years
· The use of the tube with unknown or non-approved fittings by PIPEX SYSTEMS SA, as well as the use of running water coming from anywhere else than the supply network, will avoid the warranty.
· This warranty does not take effect when the installation has not complied with the manufacturer’s installation instructions, and technical information of the manufacturer has not been taken into account.
• The installation must be performed by a specialized and registered company . The warranty excludes damage of any kind due to force majeure, as well as errors or incorrect assembly.
· The warranty requires written notification to PIPEX SYSTEMS SA , within three days from the date of the incident .
· In case of failure, PIPEX SYSTEMS SA reserves the right to inspect the damage, always within the following eight days to the incident and before starting any process to amend the situation.
· The measures taken by PIPEX SYSTEMS SA in order to minimize damage do not imply recognition of responsability under the conditions of the warranty. The negotiations on compensation should never be considered as a waiver to the objection that the notification of the accident has not been presented in due course, wether technically unjustified or deficient.
SCOPE OF THE WARRANTY
· Responsibility of PIPEX SYSTEMS SA covers free replacement costs of PIPEX pipes , which may be attributed, demonstrably, to failures in the production. The necessary repair works are also included to restore the previous situation to the incident. Extra compensation is excluded, whether it is stopping the exploitation and / or production, as well as depreciation and other indirect damage.
· PIPEX SYSTEMS SA is responsible for all damages caused by defective material in the promoter’s installation or third partiese’s.
· PIPEX SYSTEMS SA reserves the right to assign the possible sanitation arrangements to a specialist company of their choice.
· PIPEX SYSTEMS SA assumes responsibility under the two preceding paragraphs to an annual amount of 600,000 euros.
· On the other damage or injury not covered in the previous two paragraphs, PIPEX SYSTEMS SA responds according to what is legally planned.
· To validate the rights under this warranty, the owner must submit notification of the incident within the stipulated time in the terms of the warranty.
· Any notification, consent or resolution must be notified in writing to be valid.

These certificates ensure that both the pipe MULTICAPA PIPEX as the production process, after undergoing the relevant inspections by independent official bodies truly complies with the UNE-EN ISO 15875.
